Primary Care Nurse, Women & Infant Health
My name is Irma van den Hadelkamp. I am a Registered Nurse working at the Peaks to Prairies PCN in Women & Infant Health in Sundre since April 2014. I work from both the Moose and Squirrel clinic and the Greenwood Family Physicians clinic. Since November 4th 2017 I also work at the PCN Teen and Young Adult clinic in Sundre. May 2018 I started working every first and third Monday of the month at the breastfeeding clinic in Olds at the PCN clinic. I became an International Lactation Consultant in October 2017. I run this clinic together with Shannon Campbell, public health RN, from Olds. We help all mom`s who are experiencing problems with breastfeeding, we also give prenatal counseling before the delivery.
I have 20 years of experience in neonatology and have assisted midwives with home deliveries for the last 3 years of my stay in the Netherlands. We moved to Canada on October 2004 and I started to work at Sundre hospital in June 2005. Since 2008 I have been involved in the MORE OB obstetrical program of Alberta and am the “superuser” for the Sundre hospital. I also teach neonatal resuscitation to RN’S, LPN’s and MD’s at the Sundre and Olds hospital about 4 times a year.
Something you need to know about me is: I love working with pregnant women and their newborns after delivery. A little secret: you can call me anytime to assist a delivery and I always feel privileged to be present and helpful in such a special moment in people’s lives. (My family calls it an addiction ;-). I call it a passion.
